With New Year’s here already, preparing for the annual party can be a little hectic! Whether you are hosting one or attending one, it is always nice to have a little something to show your appreciation for your guests or your host! Here is a simple, elegant, fun, and inexpensive way to make personalized glasses!
1. Get Your Supplies
Of course, you’re going to need some glasses! I was able to purchase mine for $1 at my local dollar store; making this DIY even more affordable! I decided to make my glasses school-themed, and decorated them according to each school’s colors. Try to incorporate at least two colors to make your glass brighter! You will need acrylic paint for glass which can be purchased for under $2 a bottle at Wal-Mart, small foam paint brushes which can be bought for under $1, and a small bottle of glitter per glass which can also be purchased at Wal-Mart for under $2! The last and most expensive part of this DIY is Mod Podge which will serve as glue for your glitter as well as a sealant so the glitter does not flake off everywhere!
Using your acrylic paint and a foam paint brush, write whatever phrase or saying you want to have on your glass. I wrote each university’s name for mine! Depending on what color you are using, you may have to apply more than one coat.
Coat the stem of your wine glass in Mod Podge using another foam brush. Then gently pour your color choice of glitter onto the glue to make a sparkling stem.
After waiting for your glue and glitter to dry, apply another layer of Mod Podge on top of the stem. The Mod Podge will dry clear and leave you with a mess-free glittery stem!
This is optional, but I chose to tie a ribbon in a bow at the base of each stem to add even more flare! These are a super quick and fun way to make something cute to welcome the New Year!
